Athletics and Recreation at Dauphine
Université Paris-Dauphine has the strongest and most active Sports Department of any university in Ile de France. Approximately 40% of our students are enrolled in an athletic activity for credit or recreation.
Dauphine offers over 30 athletic disciplines, all taught by accredited, quality instructors.
Our athletic facilities are located close by the main campus. Dauphine also boasts a 1,200 m2 sports hall located on the basement level of the main building including a dance studio, dojo (martial-arts room), weight room and squash court as well as changing rooms, showers and amenities.
Where to find us
The Dauphine Athletic offices are located on the ground floor off the Main Hall (Hall d’Honneur), in office C018. During renovation works you can find us in office A400 and A400ter on the 4th floor of the new wing, Porte Dauphine campus.

Athletics and Recreation Council
The Athletics and Recreation Council was created in 2001, following modifications to the SUAPS Articles of Association; it meets once a year.
The Council’s role is to approve Université Paris Dauphine’s Athletics and Recreation policy as implemented by the Director and his staff by giving its opinion on current policy and practices and making suggestions for the future.
Athletics and Recreation Policy at Dauphine
Athletics policy is defined and implemented by 2 organizations:
- SUAPS, the University Paris-Dauphine Athletics Department, is an administrative body with its own budget, run by an elected Director and an appointed assistant. Its mission is to define and implement Dauphine’s overall athletics policy and programs: full-time professors, part-time instructors, the course and activity offering, schedules, on and off-campus facilities and equipment.
- Dauphine Athletics Association (A.S. – Association Sportive), a non-profit association, is mandatory under French regulations. The Dauphine Athletics Association is presided over ex officio by the President of the University. Its role is to organize the Thursday afternoon university sporting competitions and is managed by members of the student body.
