Submission of application dossiers in early July, classes begin in October.

To provide the theoretical bases necessary to pursue professional or research Masters courses in the areas of Economics, Management, Political Science. Through the teaching delivered, the business placement or the research dissertation, the first year of the Masters in the area of Economic Sciences, Political Science, Sociology (Maîtrise in Political Science and Sociology) seeks to develop students' ability to adapt to different areas of professional life or research.

Award of the First year of the Masters (Maîtrise in Political Science and Sociology) requires either completion of a research dissertation or the validation of a placement of a minimum of eight weeks in an organisation (company, administration, association, research centre, etc.). This placement must therefore take place between the end of the licence (undergraduate degree) exams (June) and the start of the Maîtrise classes (October) so that the student has the possibility to obtain their Maîtrise qualification in the June session. Validation of the M1 placement is credited with 4 ECTS.

Direct admission: Students with a Licence in Applied Economics or Licence in Social Sciences awarded by the Licence Science des Organisations Department of Paris-Dauphine University Admission through the validation of studies, professional experience or personal skills: Students with a Licence in Economics - Management, Political Science, Sociology, Economic and Social Administration (AES), MASS, information sciences and communication sciences, Law or History awarded by a French university. Students who hold a qualification awarded by a Science, Business or Economics Grande École. Students who hold French or foreign qualifications required for admission to second year Masters studies and are fluent in French.

Most students from the Maîtrise in applied economics proceed to a Masters speciality, usually at Paris-Dauphine University or at other universities. For the academic year 2006-2007, 92% of students with M1 in the SESPS domain proceeded to a Masters 2 at Paris-Dauphine University.
