Instructor

Chafik GUEZGUEZ, Professor of Physical Education & Sports and French certified French Boxing instructor

French Boxing began in Paris and in Marseille. Originally known as « la Savate », French Boxing uses both fists and feet, following highly codified rules. It requires speed, balance and physical address and develops alertness, rapid decision-making and humility………….it also requires a bit of courage – you have a real adversary and the punches and kicks are real too!!! But don’t worry, our instructor is there to make sure that fights respect the rules of sportsmanship, where punches and kicks are meant to vanquish but not “knock-out” the adversary, similar to the spirit of competitive fencing.

Classes are held in the Martial-Arts room of the Dauphine sports hall.

French Boxing is offered for course credits as well as for recreation (for information on For-Credit sports, go to the “Sports for Credit” web page).

Check the Dauphine Sports Guide for class schedules – or check with the SUAPS or A.S. Office for the most up-to-date schedule (schedules can change….).
